WASHINGTON, D.C. — The U.S. Department of Transportation is making $626.7 million available through its INFRA grant program, directing federal infrastructure funding toward freight transportation projects, truck parking expansion, and new connections to commercial spaceports as the administration seeks to strengthen supply chains and support emerging transportation sectors.

The funding, announced by Transportation Secretary Sean P. Duffy, will prioritize large-scale infrastructure projects valued at more than $150 million. The initiative marks the first time the department has specifically identified road connections to commercial spaceports as a funding priority, reflecting growing federal interest in supporting the expanding commercial aerospace industry.

The grants will be awarded through the Nationally Significant Multimodal Freight and Highway Projects program, commonly known as INFRA, which finances highway, bridge, freight, and port infrastructure projects with national or regional significance.

According to the department, eligible projects include roadway connections to air cargo hubs and commercial spaceports, highway and bridge improvements that reduce congestion, railroad crossing safety upgrades, freight corridor modernization, and investments in marine highway infrastructure.

More than $200 million of the funding has been set aside for commercial truck parking projects, an area that has drawn increasing attention from industry groups citing persistent shortages of safe parking options for truck drivers.

“From our thriving commercial space industry to our hardworking truck drivers, the Trump Administration is delivering for the American people,” Duffy said. “We are moving at the Speed of Trump to prioritize critical infrastructure needs in grants, move federal dollars out the door, and start turning dirt.”

The department divided the funding opportunity into two tracks.

Track 1 will provide $426.7 million for surface transportation projects deemed nationally or regionally significant. Applications for those funds are due July 1, 2026.

Track 2 will provide $200 million specifically for projects that expand commercial motor vehicle parking. Applications for that funding are due July 15, 2026.

The INFRA program is designed to support freight movement, improve transportation efficiency, and enhance roadway safety through investments in major infrastructure assets across the country.
