WEST CHESTER, PA — A. Duie Pyle is expanding its emphasis on box truck brokerage services as shippers seek more flexible transportation options for freight that falls between traditional less-than-truckload and full truckload shipments.
The company said demand is increasing for equipment capable of handling oversized, high-value and time-sensitive freight that requires dedicated transportation or specialized handling.
Pyle’s brokerage network provides access to box trucks for shipments typically measuring 16 to 26 feet in length and weighing less than 10,000 pounds. The service targets freight such as machinery, equipment, large crates, retail fixtures, cabinets, conveyors and automotive parts.
Unlike traditional less-than-truckload shipping, box trucks provide direct point-to-point transportation and can be equipped with dock-high access, liftgates and pallet jacks to accommodate locations or cargo with specialized handling requirements.
The service is also intended to address short-term transportation needs, including same-day deliveries, after-hours and weekend shipments, seasonal shipping surges, equipment failures and temporary capacity shortages.
“Every shipment has different requirements, and selecting the right transportation approach starts with understanding the freight, timeline and customer’s operational needs,” Craig Lough, director of strategic planning at A. Duie Pyle, stated.
The company said its box truck brokerage offering is supported by its nationwide brokerage network and is designed to complement its broader portfolio of less-than-truckload, truckload and supply chain services rather than replace them.
