West Chester Caterer Ordered to Upgrade Food Prep Ceiling

Food Safety Inspections

WEST CHESTER, PA — A West Chester catering business was cited by the Chester County Health Department during a July 8 inspection after inspectors determined deteriorating conditions in its main food preparation area require installation of a new drop ceiling.

Classic Diner Catering, 827 Lincoln Ave., Unit 9, West Chester, received two violations during the inspection.

Inspectors ordered the facility to remove a clear plastic liner from the floor of its walk-in freezer. They also determined the open ceiling in the main food preparation area no longer met conditions under a previous approval because of unclean and deteriorating surfaces.

According to the inspection report, the business must submit a signed contractor agreement to the Chester County Health Department by Aug. 1 and complete installation of a vinyl-faced drop ceiling in the main food preparation area by Sept. 1. The report noted the facility requested an extension after hiring a new contractor.
