WEST CHESTER, PA — Chester County Hospital/Penn Medicine is seeking zoning relief to keep a temporary mobile MRI facility at its West Goshen Township campus through Dec. 1, 2028, extending the diagnostic-imaging installation for two years beyond its current permit period.
The West Goshen Township Zoning Hearing Board is scheduled to consider the hospital’s variance request Sept. 28 at 7 p.m. at the Township Administration Building, 1025 Paoli Pike, West Chester.
The request applies to the hospital’s 18.3-acre property at 701 E. Marshall Street, which is located in the township’s MSD Medical-Service District.
Chester County Hospital is seeking a variance from Section 84-67.A(6) of the township zoning ordinance, which governs the length of time a zoning permit may be issued for the temporary mobile MRI facility.
Approval has not been granted. The hospital is requesting an additional two years, which would allow the mobile MRI facility to remain on the property until Dec. 1, 2028.
The zoning board may grant the requested relief, impose conditions, deny the application or continue the hearing.
A separate application on the Sept. 28 hearing notice concerns a 0.17-acre property at 4 Prospect Ave. in West Chester.
Applicant Hank Koppenol is seeking a variance from township restrictions on the expansion of nonconforming uses to replace an existing shed with a 30-foot-by-30-foot detached garage. The property, which contains a single-family home and two detached garages, is located in the C-2 Commercial Shopping Center District.
The zoning board may also consider additional relief determined to be necessary for the applications.
