WAYNE, PA — Chester County entrepreneurs Tom Cancelmo and Chris Murray have launched Fans of the Kingdom, a Wayne-based apparel company targeting Catholic and Christian consumers with sportswear designed around expressions of faith.

The direct-to-consumer brand is entering the market with a unisex collection spanning short- and long-sleeve shirts, quarter-zips, lightweight hoodies, hats and golf apparel, including performance polos.

Fans of the Kingdom is positioning the clothing for both athletic and everyday use, extending its potential market beyond sportswear into casual apparel.

Cancelmo said the business concept grew from comparing the visibility of sports fandom with outward expressions of religious faith.

“One morning while I was out for a run, I asked myself, ‘Why don’t I express or share my faith with the same enthusiasm, devotion, and pride that I do so naturally for my favorite teams?’” Cancelmo said. “That question became the foundation of Fans of the Kingdom.”

The company is built around the slogan “Wear the Message. Live the Mission,” with its products intended to give customers a way to incorporate religious messaging into everyday clothing.

“We are inviting Catholics and Christians to ‘Be a Fan’ by wearing their faith with confidence and inspiring others to share their faith with those around them,” Murray said.

Fans of the Kingdom said a portion of each purchase will be donated to Paradisus Dei, an organization that works with men, women, couples and families in more than 1,000 parishes worldwide.

Fans of the Kingdom is selling its inaugural collection online at FANSOFTHEKINGDOM.COM.
