MALVERN, PA — Vishay Intertechnology Inc. (NYSE: VSH) has expanded its power transformer portfolio with a 17-device series designed to give equipment manufacturers more flexibility in flyback converter designs used across automotive, industrial, telecom and medical applications.
The Vishay Dale IFBT series consists of customizable, surface-mount flyback transformers operating across a 26-volt to 72-volt input range at 250 kHz. The devices provide 1,500 VRMS of isolation for 60 seconds from primary and bias windings to secondary, according to the company.
Multiple windings can be configured through series and parallel connections, allowing designers to accommodate different voltage and current requirements. The transformers support output voltages ranging from 1.8 volts to 24 volts and output currents from 0.5 amps to 9 amps.
Vishay said the design flexibility is intended to allow the same transformer series to address a broader range of power-conversion configurations while permitting customers to modify windings for specific applications.
The transformers have inductance values ranging from 35.0 µH to 75.0 µH and an operating temperature range of minus 40 degrees Celsius to 125 degrees Celsius. The devices are RoHS compliant.
The IFBT series is designed for 6-watt and 30-watt Power over Ethernet applications and isolated DC/DC converters rated at up to 30 watts.
Other targeted uses include automotive LED lighting drivers; energy generation, distribution and management systems; industrial drives, tools and automation equipment; home and building controls; consumer electronics; appliances; telecommunications equipment; and medical instrumentation.
The series uses an open construction that allows windings to be modified to meet customer-specific electrical requirements, extending the range of configurations available from the 17-device platform.
