EXTON, PA — Omega Flex (NASDAQ: OFLX) has redesigned fittings for its TracPipe flexible gas piping system, aiming to make installation easier for contractors working on residential, commercial and industrial natural gas and propane projects.
The Exton-based manufacturer said the re-engineered fittings were developed based on field feedback and are available in sizes ranging from 3/8 inch to 2 inches for both TracPipe and TracPipe PSII systems.
The updated fittings include a silicone cover intended to prevent exposed stainless steel at the fitting joint and are designed to improve installation consistency.
Smaller fittings, ranging from 3/8 inch to 1 inch, are direct replacements for existing AutoFlare fittings and use the same installation process, the company said.
Those fittings also use an adaptable base design that can be configured for wall boxes, steel floor flanges and 90-degree wall stub-outs.
Larger fittings, ranging from 1-1/4 inches to 2 inches, use a four-bolt design that Omega Flex said requires less torque than previous fittings and reduces physical effort during installation.
The larger fittings also include swivel technology intended to reduce hose torsion during application.
Brian Breitinger, engineering manager at Omega Flex, said the company re-engineered the fittings to provide a simpler installation process while maintaining the safety and performance of the TracPipe system.
The fittings are designed for use with standard field tools and can connect to traditional black iron pipe systems and gas appliances.
