BERWYN, PA — Envestnet is embedding artificial intelligence more directly into its wealth-management platform in its third technology release of 2026, pairing a conversational AI assistant with a redesigned interface intended to reduce the manual analysis and administrative work performed by financial advisors.
The R3 release introduces an AI assistant within Envestnet’s Insights dashboards, allowing advisors to ask questions in plain language about performance changes, growth opportunities, outliers and other trends instead of manually filtering underlying data.
Advisors can open the assistant from an Insights dashboard and request explanations of changes across metrics, factors driving results or summaries for client discussions. The tool appears in a side panel alongside the dashboard being analyzed.
Envestnet is also adding key performance indicator widgets covering customer opportunities, net flows, proposal pipelines, total accounts and total assets. The asset view can incorporate both assets held on Envestnet’s platform and off-platform holdings when firms provide that data.
The changes are part of a broader redesign that Envestnet views as infrastructure for deploying additional AI capabilities across its platform.
“Wealth management platforms were built for displaying data, not delivering intelligence,” CEO Chris Todd stated. He described configurable layouts, componentized widgets, notifications and conversational tools as prerequisites for integrating AI without forcing advisors into workflows built around older interfaces.
The release introduces an interactive dashboard that allows users to create, configure and control widgets on a customized desktop. A new side-panel navigation interface will follow the same rollout schedule.
Larger clients were given an early opt-in for the dashboard and navigation beginning in mid-September.
Envestnet is positioning the redesign around an industry productivity problem. Research cited by the company from Cerulli found that advisors spend roughly nine hours of a typical 40-hour workweek on administrative tasks and about three hours prospecting for new clients.
The company is also expanding its Universal Widget Library, combining new dashboard components with existing Unified Managed Portfolio and Wealth Data Platform widgets.
“AI explainability is a powerful tool for allowing advisors to understand the story behind the data on our dashboards — without having to manually analyze trends, compare metrics, or investigate outliers,” Dave Lieberman, principal director of product for Wealth Data Solutions at Envestnet, stated.
Separately, Envestnet has launched a self-service configuration portal for Unified Managed Portfolios, allowing administrators to create and manage account templates. Users who do not require customized configurations will receive an Envestnet default template.
The UMP portal currently supports administrator template creation, with sponsor self-service capabilities planned for Envestnet’s fourth technology release later this year.
