WAYNE, PA — iPipeline completed its acquisition of Origo last week after securing required regulatory approvals, including clearance from the UK Competition and Markets Authority, expanding the financial technology provider’s position in the UK wealth and retirement market.
The transaction adds Origo’s financial-services connectivity technology to iPipeline’s digital insurance and financial-services operations. The companies are targeting fragmented systems and manual processes that complicate the exchange of information among providers, advisers and technology platforms.
Origo specializes in connecting providers, advisers and platforms in the UK market, allowing financial-services firms to exchange information across otherwise separate systems. iPipeline provides technology used by carriers, distributors, advisers and financial institutions to digitize business processes.
The combination broadens iPipeline’s operations beyond its existing life insurance capabilities as insurance, retirement and wealth-management services become more interconnected.
“As financial services organizations face growing pressure to modernize operations and deliver seamless customer experiences, the ability to connect people, processes and information has become increasingly important,” iPipeline CEO Pat O’Donnell said.
O’Donnell said Origo’s connectivity capabilities complement iPipeline’s technology and could help customers reduce operational complexity and improve collaboration.
Origo and Unipass will continue operating as iPipeline brands. The company said existing services and solutions will remain available during the integration.
Rachel Edwards, iPipeline’s managing director for the UK and Europe, said combining the companies creates an opportunity to connect more parts of the financial-services ecosystem while simplifying interactions among firms and their customers.
Origo CEO Anthony Rafferty said joining iPipeline would allow the company to build on its existing connectivity business while maintaining its approach to working with customers.
“We have an opportunity to strengthen the services our customers rely on today while helping drive greater efficiency and innovation across the industry,” Rafferty said.
