MALVERN, PA — Mid Penn Bank, a subsidiary of Mid Penn Bancorp (NASDAQ: MPB), has hired former PNC Private Bank executive Mark Kessler to lead private banking operations across the Philadelphia region as the institution expands services for high-net-worth clients.
Kessler joined the bank as senior vice president and regional director of private banking and will be based at Mid Penn’s Malvern Administrative Center. The bank said he will oversee private banking efforts throughout the region, providing customized banking and lending services to affluent individuals and families.
The appointment comes as regional and community banks continue competing for wealthy clients by expanding specialized wealth management, lending and private banking capabilities traditionally dominated by larger financial institutions.
Kessler brings nearly 20 years of experience in financial services, business development and client relationship management. Most recently, he served as a vice president and private banker at PNC Private Bank, where he managed a portfolio of high-net-worth clients across suburban Philadelphia markets and focused on deposit, lending and business development initiatives.
Earlier in his career, Kessler held positions with Spectra by Comcast Spectacor, Comcast Cable and Goldman Sachs.
“Mark understands the importance of building lasting relationships and helping clients navigate important financial decisions,” Jordan Space, president of the Private Bank and chief revenue officer of MPB Financial, said in a statement. “His experience serving high-net-worth clients will be a tremendous asset as we continue to grow our Private Bank.”
Kessler earned a bachelor’s degree in business administration with a concentration in finance from Boston University School of Management.
He has participated in the Greater Philadelphia Leadership Exchange, is involved with the Philadelphia Industrial Development Corp., and volunteers with Extra Life Charity, which supports Children’s Hospital of Philadelphia.
