EXTON, PA — Frontage Laboratories has appointed drug development veteran Chandra Prakash as senior advisor for clinical services, adding scientific and regulatory expertise as the contract research organization expands its clinical development capabilities.
Prakash will advise Frontage’s Clinical Services organization on clinical pharmacology strategy, human absorption, distribution, metabolism and excretion (ADME) studies, physiologically based pharmacokinetic modeling, drug-drug interaction assessments and regulatory submissions, the company announced.
The appointment comes as pharmaceutical companies increasingly rely on contract research organizations for specialized expertise in clinical pharmacology and regulatory development.
Prakash brings more than 40 years of experience in drug metabolism, pharmacokinetics, bioanalysis and translational sciences. He previously held senior scientific leadership positions at Agios Pharmaceuticals, Biogen and Pfizer, following academic appointments at Vanderbilt University and the University of Maryland.
According to Frontage, his work has supported multiple investigational new drug and new drug application submissions, as well as approvals for therapies in oncology, neurology, rare diseases and metabolic disorders.
“His deep expertise and industry insights will be invaluable as we continue to expand our clinical services,” said Abdul Mutlib, Frontage’s chief strategy and scientific officer.
Prakash has authored nearly 300 peer-reviewed publications, presentations, book chapters and patents. He also serves as editor-in-chief of Current Drug Metabolism and Drug Metabolism Letters.
