WEST CHESTER, PA — The West Chester Area School District has hired former Greater West Chester Chamber of Commerce President Katie Walker as its first supervisor of strategic initiatives and district partnerships, creating a new leadership position aimed at strengthening relationships with businesses, nonprofit organizations and community groups.
Walker will join the district in August, where she will coordinate strategic initiatives and expand partnerships intended to support students, staff and families, the district reported.
The newly established position is designed to connect the school district with local organizations, civic leaders and employers while coordinating community engagement efforts aligned with district priorities.
Walker brings more than two decades of experience leading nonprofit and membership organizations. She most recently served as senior director of development for the Chester County Food Bank, overseeing fundraising, marketing, volunteer services and partnership initiatives.
Before joining the Food Bank, Walker led the Greater West Chester Chamber of Commerce from 2021 through 2025, where she directed an organization representing approximately 600 businesses and organizations.
Superintendent Dr. David Christopher said Walker’s background made her well suited to strengthen the district’s ties with the community.
“I had the opportunity to work with Katie when she was the president of the Greater West Chester Chamber of Commerce,” Christopher stated. “I am so excited to have her working with us to improve our connections with area businesses and other community partners.”
In her new role, Walker will work with community organizations, businesses and civic leaders to expand educational opportunities and resources throughout the district. She will also serve as the district’s liaison to the West Chester Area Education Foundation and the Parent Teacher Organization Committee, helping coordinate fundraising, community engagement and partnership initiatives.
“I am honored to join WCASD and contribute to a district that is such an important part of the West Chester community,” Walker stated. “I look forward to building on the relationships I have developed here and supporting opportunities for students, staff, and families.”
The district indicated that the appointment is part of a broader effort to strengthen implementation of district priorities through expanded community partnerships and stakeholder engagement.
