Coatesville Teachers Ratify Contract Before Current Deal Expires

Coatesville Area School District

COATESVILLE, PA — The Coatesville Area School District and the Coatesville Area Teachers Association have ratified a new four-year labor agreement, positioning the district to avoid contract uncertainty ahead of the expiration of the current teachers’ contract.

The agreement was ratified by the teachers’ union and is scheduled to go before the Coatesville Area School District Board of School Directors for final approval at a special meeting on June 9. If approved, the contract will take effect July 1.

Neither the district nor the union disclosed financial terms, salary provisions, healthcare changes or other contract details in announcing the ratification.

The agreement follows negotiations between district officials and union representatives and would provide labor stability for one of Chester County’s largest school districts through the next four years.

In a statement, the district said both sides reached the deal after what it described as “productive, respectful, and good-faith discussions.”

The district also said negotiators sought to balance employee interests with the district’s fiscal responsibilities while maintaining a focus on student outcomes.

The contract’s ratification comes before the current agreement expires, eliminating the prospect of entering the new fiscal year without a labor agreement in place.

The Coatesville Area Teachers Association represents the district’s teaching staff. The district serves students across the Coatesville area and surrounding communities in western Chester County.

Additional details about the agreement are expected to become public when the Board of School Directors considers final approval on June 9.
