TREDYFFRIN TWP, PA — Police are investigating an early morning burglary at the Chester County home of Philadelphia Eagles running back Saquon Barkley after intruders allegedly entered the residence while Barkley and his family were inside.
According to Tredyffrin Township police, officers responded at approximately 5:10 a.m. Saturday to a report of a burglary in progress at Barkley’s residence in the Malvern section of the township.
Investigators reported that at least one suspect allegedly gained entry into the home before fleeing prior to officers’ arrival. Police said Barkley and his family were inside the residence during the incident but were not physically injured.
Authorities have not determined whether any property was stolen during the burglary.
According to investigators, detectives are searching for a vehicle of interest captured on security footage. Police described the vehicle as a large white SUV, believed to be a GMC Yukon.
The Tredyffrin Township Detective Division is leading the investigation with assistance from the Chester County District Attorney’s Office. Investigators also plan to coordinate with federal authorities because of similar residential burglaries targeting professional athletes in recent years.
Police are urging residents in the surrounding Malvern area to review home security and doorbell camera footage for suspicious activity or sightings of the white GMC Yukon around 5 a.m. Saturday.
