Tredyffrin Wins $1.3 Million for Sidewalk Project

Grants

PAOLI, PA — Tredyffrin Township will receive $1.3 million in federal transportation funding to build new sidewalks connecting residential and commercial areas to Valley Forge Middle School and the Chester Valley Trail, state Rep. Melissa Shusterman said.

The funding, awarded through the Transportation Alternatives Set-Aside program administered by the Pennsylvania Department of Transportation, will support construction of about 1,550 feet of sidewalk along Valley Forge Road and Swedesford Road as part of the township’s Gateway Multimodal Connections project.

State Rep. Melissa Shusterman said the project is intended to improve pedestrian safety and expand access between neighborhoods, shopping areas, and public infrastructure.

“Further development of pedestrian walkways in this corridor is vital to the safety of our community,” Shusterman said in a statement.

The project will create pedestrian connections to Gateway Shopping Center and nearby trail access through Valley Road, according to the announcement.

The Transportation Alternatives Set-Aside program is funded through the 2021 Bipartisan Infrastructure Law and supports projects including pedestrian and bicycle infrastructure, trail development, transit access improvements, and school safety initiatives.
