DUI Arrest, Theft, and Dozens of Stops Mark Busy Wyomissing Weekend

WYOMISSING, PA — Wyomissing Police responded to more than 70 incidents between Friday and early Sunday, including a DUI arrest, a reported theft, and numerous traffic stops, according to department records.

Police reported that activity began shortly after midnight Friday with multiple 911 hang-up calls on Penn Avenue, Wyomissing Boulevard, and Park Road North, all determined to be accidental or unfounded upon officer response.

Throughout the morning and early afternoon Friday, officers handled routine incidents, including a fraud complaint on Reading Boulevard and an attempted service of a protection-from-abuse order on Hillside Road in Reading, where police said the individual was not located.

Traffic enforcement remained a consistent focus. Police reported multiple stops across Penn Avenue, Wyomissing Boulevard, Route 222, and Park Road North, with drivers either warned or cited for violations including faulty equipment, speeding, and school bus infractions.

At approximately 5:38 p.m. Friday, police reported a driver was taken into custody on Park Road South after officers identified two outstanding scofflaw warrants during a traffic stop.

Emergency responses included a vehicle fire on Berkshire Boulevard Friday afternoon and another along a Route 222 ramp later that evening, both handled with assistance from the Wyomissing Fire Department, according to police.

Police also reported investigating a two-vehicle crash on Woodland Road around 7:52 p.m. Friday involving possible injuries. Two individuals were transported to a hospital, and a legal blood draw was conducted for one operator as part of a driving under the influence investigation, authorities said.

Later Friday night, officers conducted a traffic stop on Penn Avenue in Reading around 11:22 p.m. Police stated the driver was taken into custody and is accused of driving under the influence following the stop for unsafe speed.

Early Saturday morning enforcement continued, with additional citations issued for speeding, failure to stop at a red signal, and equipment violations across borough roadways, police reported.

Police also responded to a domestic-related call on Park Road North around 1:47 a.m. Saturday. According to police, a male requested medical assistance for shortness of breath and was treated by EMS at the scene, while officers were unable to make contact with a second individual who had left the area.

By midday Saturday, police reported approving multiple school bus violation cases through an automated enforcement system at several locations, including Park Road North, Penn Avenue, and Berkshire Boulevard.

At approximately 3:20 p.m. Saturday, officers were dispatched to Dauphin Avenue for a reported theft. Police said the loss was estimated at approximately $700, and the investigation remains ongoing.

Additional calls Saturday included reports of disorderly conduct, suspicious persons, reckless driving, and noise complaints across multiple neighborhoods. In one incident on State Hill Road around 9 p.m., police reported dispersing a large gathering of more than 30 vehicles playing loud music.

Police also reported assisting another department during a traffic stop in Sinking Spring that resulted in the recovery of controlled substances under Act 64.

Other incidents included a missing wallet report, animal-related calls, burglar alarm activations found to be false, and repeated 911 hang-up calls that were determined not to require police action.

Authorities reported that most traffic stops resulted in warnings, though several drivers were cited for violations including speeding, equipment issues, and operating without proper documentation.

All suspects, arrestees, and defendants are presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
