WEST CHESTER, PA — Patelmo’s Pizzeria in East Goshen Township was cited for multiple food safety and facility violations during a Chester County Health Department inspection conducted on Friday, April 3.

Inspectors documented issues, including improper food handling, temperature control violations, and equipment deficiencies, at the restaurant located at 1530 Paoli Pike.

According to the report, an employee was observed handling raw chicken and then ready-to-eat foods without changing gloves or washing hands. Inspectors also found sanitizer levels in a dishwasher below required standards and wash temperatures below the minimum 120°F.

Several food storage violations were noted, including ready-to-eat items stored beneath raw meat, unlabeled containers, and food held above the required 41°F. Moldy croutons were also observed and discarded.

The report cited additional concerns with facility conditions, including a leaking hand sink, a prep sink with a leaking faucet, and a mop sink without running water. Inspectors also noted a blocked handwashing sink, missing ceiling tiles, and a rear door gap that could allow pests to enter.

Other violations included expired sanitizer test strips, improper storage of utensils, onions stored on the floor, and a menu that did not clearly identify which foods may be served raw or undercooked.

The facility’s ventilation system was also cited, with inspectors stating the hood did not fully cover grease-producing equipment.

A follow-up inspection is required to confirm corrections. Failure to resolve violations could result in denial of a license to operate and additional inspection fees, according to the report.
