WEST CHESTER, PA — Rainbow Connections invites West Chester to a Community Day and pop-up Film Festival at the Chester County History Center on August 8th. The daytime program welcomes families and children, featuring Julia Petter’s 20th anniversary music school recital alongside outdoor activities like face painting, lawn games, art projects, and an instrument petting zoo. Ice cream, concessions, beer, and wine will be available throughout the day.
The all-day Social Advocacy pop-up Film Festival features “The Dads,” which debuted at SXSW, produced by Dwyane Wade and directed by Emmy winner Luchina Fisher. Screenings are at 1 pm and 4 pm, and seats are filling fast. After 6 pm, live music carries the evening with great bands, sound, and projection lighting.
Every dollar raised matches the 150 thousand dollars already pledged for 2027. With 300 thousand dollars in hand, Rainbow Connections will hire a full-time caseworker to travel across Pennsylvania and bring support directly to LGBTQ youth. The work is directed by Edge NJ, the organization’s fiscal sponsor, with over 30 years delivering housing and care to the community.
