LANCASTER, PA — The Pennsylvania Department of Transportation (PennDOT) announced that overnight lane restrictions will take place this week on Route 30 in Lancaster County ahead of a planned bridge demolition at the Route 222/Route 30 Interchange Improvement Project.
Weather permitting, restrictions will be in place on both directions of Route 30 from Oregon Pike (Route 272) to New Holland Pike (Route 23) between 9:00 PM Wednesday, October 1, and 6:00 AM Thursday, October 2, and again from 9:00 PM Thursday, October 2, to 6:00 AM Friday, October 3. Crews will perform saw cutting and barrier removal to prepare for the October 10-13 closure, when the old eastbound Route 30 to northbound Route 222 bridge will be demolished.
The $72.2 million project, led by JD Eckman, Inc., includes new ramps, bridge replacements, widening Route 222 to six lanes, and long-term safety improvements, with completion set for September 2027.
