PHILADELPHIA, PA — A 32-year-old Mexican national was sentenced this week to 10 years in federal prison for transporting more than 100 pounds of methamphetamine from Colorado to Chester County as part of a drug-distribution operation, federal prosecutors reported.
U.S. District Judge Nitza I. Quiñones Alejandro also sentenced Demetrio Lagunes-Xocua to five years of supervised release, according to the U.S. Attorney’s Office for the Eastern District of Pennsylvania.
Lagunes-Xocua pleaded guilty in April to possession with intent to distribute methamphetamine and unlawful possession of a firearm by an alien. A federal grand jury indicted him on the charges in May 2025.
Court filings and statements indicate Lagunes-Xocua was driving a tractor-trailer in Upper Uwchlan Township on April 20, 2024, when authorities discovered more than 100 pounds of methamphetamine and a loaded 9mm semiautomatic pistol inside the vehicle.
Federal prosecutors stated that Lagunes-Xocua later admitted he had traveled from Colorado to Pennsylvania to deliver the drugs. The U.S. Attorney’s Office described him as unlawfully present in the United States.
The Drug Enforcement Administration, Pennsylvania State Police and Chester County Detectives investigated the case. Assistant U.S. Attorney Lindsey Mills prosecuted it.
