Armed Robbery, Gunfire, and High-Speed Chase in Newark Ends in Crash and Four Arrests

Police News

NEWARK, DE — Four individuals, including two juveniles, have been arrested in connection with an armed robbery and shooting that led to a high-speed pursuit and multi-vehicle crash Tuesday evening, according to the New Castle County Division of Police.

The incident began on August 5, 2025, at approximately 7:10 p.m., when officers responded to the 3000 block of Stone Place, located within the Village of Kent Apartment community, following reports of multiple gunshots. Upon arrival, officers discovered that several vehicles and buildings in the area had been struck by gunfire. Numerous shell casings were recovered at the scene.

A preliminary investigation revealed that two individuals had arrived at the location to purchase a gaming console when they were approached by two suspects who allegedly brandished a firearm and committed a robbery. Shortly after the robbery, shots were fired. No injuries from the gunfire have been reported.

Officers broadcast a description of the suspect vehicle — a black 2015 Dodge Charger — and partial license plate information to regional law enforcement agencies. At approximately 7:32 p.m., a Delaware State Trooper spotted the Charger traveling at high speed in the Newark area and initiated a pursuit.

The chase ended on South Chapel Street when the Charger collided with the rear of a white 2019 Toyota Highlander, causing the Highlander to rotate into oncoming traffic, strike a curb and mailbox, and roll over before coming to a stop off the roadway. The driver of the Highlander, an 18-year-old man from Newark, was transported to a local hospital with minor injuries.

Following the crash, the occupants of the Dodge Charger fled on foot into a nearby farm field. All four were apprehended shortly thereafter by responding officers. Multiple firearms were recovered during the course of the investigation.
