Manhunt Underway in North Philly Murder: $20K Reward for Armed Suspect in Robe and Ski Mask

PHILADELPHIA, PA — Authorities are searching for a suspect allegedly involved in a fatal daytime shooting that claimed the life of a 26-year-old man in North Philadelphia earlier this month.

According to the Philadelphia Police Department, officers from the 26th District responded to reports of gunfire around 2:23 p.m. on Sunday, July 6, in the 2400 block of North Reese Street. Upon arrival, officers discovered Donald Jeffers, a resident of the 3000 block of Reese Street, suffering from multiple gunshot wounds to the torso. Jeffers was rushed to Temple University Hospital, where he was pronounced dead at 3:01 p.m.

Following an initial investigation, homicide detectives arrested 43-year-old Arron J. Taylor of East Sedgley Street. Taylor is alleged to have operated the vehicle that transported the shooter to and from the scene. He is currently facing charges of Conspiracy to Commit Murder and Criminal Conspiracy.

Investigators are now seeking the identity of the gunman, who remains at large. Surveillance photos released by law enforcement show the suspect, described as a Black male between 20 and 30 years old, approximately 5’6″ to 5’8″ tall with a thin build. At the time of the incident, he was reportedly wearing a distinctive purple Jubba robe, a black ski mask, and a black Pittsburgh Pirates cap with a yellow “P” over a state of Pennsylvania outline.

Authorities caution the public that the suspect should be considered armed and dangerous.
