WILMINGTON, DE — Two men were taken into custody last week in Wilmington after police reportedly observed drug-related activities and recovered a firearm and controlled substances.
On June 17, 2025, at approximately 11:56 a.m., officers with Wilmington’s Drug, Organized Crime, and Vice Division were patrolling the area near Chestnut and South Harrison Streets when they identified two individuals allegedly engaging in drug-related transactions. The suspects, identified as 28-year-old Donald Saunders and 29-year-old Christopher Williams, were arrested without incident.
During the arrests, officers reportedly recovered several items, including a loaded .380 caliber handgun and 5.67 grams of crack cocaine.
Saunders has been charged with multiple offenses, including possession of a firearm during the commission of a felony, two counts of possession of a firearm or ammunition by a person prohibited, carrying a concealed deadly weapon, and possession of a controlled substance with the intent to deliver. Following his arraignment in Justice of the Peace Court 11, he was committed to the Howard R. Young Correctional Institution on $60,000 cash-only bail.
Williams has been charged with one count of possession of a controlled substance with the intent to deliver. He was also arraigned in Justice of the Peace Court 11 and was committed to the same correctional facility on $7,500 cash-only bail.
Authorities emphasize that both suspects are presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law. Further updates on the case may be provided as the investigation progresses.
