WILMINGTON, DE — A Wilmington man has been taken into custody following an investigation into multiple alleged burglary incidents reported late last month.
Authorities have identified the suspect as 53-year-old Charles Taylor. According to the Wilmington Police Department, Taylor was linked to two separate burglary cases that occurred in downtown Wilmington.
The first incident was reported on March 30, at approximately 12:09 a.m., at a property located in the 500 block of North King Street. The following day, on March 31 at around 2 a.m., officers responded to another burglary report in the 700 block of North Market Street.
Both cases were assigned to Detective Joran Merced of the department’s Criminal Investigations Division. Through investigative efforts, Detective Merced identified Taylor as a suspect in the alleged crimes and obtained arrest warrants.
On April 4, law enforcement officers located Taylor in the 700 block of North West Street, where he was apprehended without incident.
Taylor has been charged with multiple offenses, including second- and third-degree burglary, as well as three counts of theft under $1,500. Following his arraignment at the New Castle County Court of Common Pleas, Taylor was committed to the Howard R. Young Correctional Institution, where he is being held pending further court proceedings.
Officials emphasize that all charges are allegations at this stage and that Taylor is presumed innocent unless proven guilty in a court of law.
