WEST CHESTER, PA — The Chester County Food Bank is offering a range of meaningful volunteer opportunities in celebration of Pennsylvania Day on Friday, July 18, 2025. Held in partnership with America250 PA Chester County, the event combines community service with a broader commemoration of Pennsylvania’s historical legacy as the second state to join the Union.
Volunteers are invited to participate in various activities aimed at supporting local residents in need. Options include meal preparation and packaging, cleaning and sorting fresh produce for distribution, and packing Senior Food Boxes along with other warehouse tasks. For those who prefer working outdoors, there are opportunities to help harvest fresh vegetables at Springton Manor Farm in Glenmoore or Two Gander Farm in Downingtown.
National Pennsylvania Day is an annual observance dedicated to honoring the state’s rich history and its foundational role in the creation of the United States. America250 PA Chester County marks the event as part of a larger effort leading up to the nation’s Semiquincentennial celebration in 2026. This initiative aims to “inspire and engage all our communities in commemoration of America’s founding, connecting our County’s stories to the nation’s past, present, and future throughout 2026.”
By participating in these volunteer activities, residents can contribute to the community while taking part in the broader celebration of Pennsylvania’s heritage and its role in shaping the nation. For those interested, the event promises a day of enriching experiences and opportunities to make a meaningful impact.
The Chester County Food Bank and America250 PA Chester County encourage everyone to come together to honor this significant day through acts of service.
