PARKESBURG, PA — The Parkesburg Borough Police responded to an assault report on September 28, 2023, at 6:16 p.m. on the 100 block of West First Avenue. The victim had reportedly been repeatedly struck in the face and head, allegedly by 32-year-old Justin Berwanger.

The suspect, Berwanger, fled the scene before the police arrived. The victim, suffering from injuries sustained during the assault, was transported to a nearby hospital for evaluation.

Within 24 hours of the incident, the Parkesburg Borough Police Department managed to secure an arrest warrant for Berwanger. On September 29, 2023, police located him within the Borough. Following his apprehension, Berwanger was transported to Central Booking for arraignment and the scheduling of his preliminary hearing.

Berwanger now faces two counts of Simple Assault (Domestic Violence).

As the case proceeds, more details are expected to emerge during the preliminary hearing. Information, a criminal complaint, or an arrest is not a declaration of guilt. A suspect, arrestee, or defendant is presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
