HARRISBURG, PA — A Bedford County man, Brian David Taylor, has been convicted of felony aggravated assault for slashing a man’s throat outside a bar in 2021. The verdict came from a Bedford County jury on Friday evening.

The incident took place on November 5, 2021, outside Rookeez bar in Bedford. According to the evidence presented by the Attorney General’s Office, Taylor and the victim initially argued inside the bar. The altercation escalated when they went outside. Taylor, 52, concealed a knife and used it to slash the victim’s throat.

Attorney General Michelle Henry described the act as extremely violent and commended the jurors for their careful consideration of the evidence. “This was an extremely violent act by a defendant who, without a doubt, intended serious harm for the victim,” Henry said. “I commend the jurors for carefully considering the evidence and reaching a just verdict that holds the defendant accountable for this disturbing act of violence.”

The victim was transported to a nearby hospital where he received treatment, including staples and sutures. He eventually recovered from his injuries.

Taylor attempted to flee the scene after the assault, but bystanders intervened and stopped him.

Senior Deputy Attorney General Joseph M. Sembrot prosecuted the case and secured the conviction. Taylor will be sentenced on June 24.
