WEST CHESTER, PA — The Chester County District Attorney’s Office, the Chester County Detectives Drug and Organized Crime Unit (CCDOC), and High Intensity Drug Trafficking Areas Strike Task Force (HIDTA) announce the arrest of Ramiro Guzman-Gomez, 45, and Agustin Lopez-Guzman, 35, both from Kennett Square, in connection to the trafficking of controlled substances in East Marlborough Township, Chester County. The defendants were charged with possession with intent to deliver a controlled substance, persons not to possess a firearm, dealing in unlawful proceeds, and related charges. Both defendants were arraigned and committed to Chester County Prison in lieu of $150,000 cash bail by MDJ Al Iacocca.

Chester County District Attorney Deb Ryan said, “These men knowingly supplied illegal substances to others within this community and had illegal firearms to help facilitate that. With the dedicated work done by law enforcement, these men will be held accountable. We will continue to combat this drug epidemic by investigating drug trafficking organizations and continuing to protect our community.”

The criminal complaint alleges that in early June 2023, the CCDOC began an investigation into the trafficking of controlled substances, cocaine and methamphetamine, at 537 Schoolhouse Road, East Marlborough Township, Chester County.

Between June 9, 2023, and June 11, 2023, the CCDOC and HIDTA made multiple controlled purchases from Agustin Lopez-Guzman utilizing a confidential informant. A recorded phone call was placed to defendant Agustin Lopez-Guzman, aka “Gute,” where they arranged to meet at 537 Schoolhouse Road to buy drugs. Detectives utilized covert video surveillance to observe this meeting.

During the exchange, the defendant Ramiro Guzman-Gomez allowed the informant inside. Once inside the informant asked for “Gute” who later came to meet the informant to purchase cocaine and methamphetamine. Lopez-Guzman had a black semi-automatic handgun during this exchange. He is not permitted to possess a firearm under the law. The drugs were turned over to the investigators after the purchase.

On June 29, 2023, a search warrant was executed at 537 Schoolhouse Road. Investigators found 1/8 ounce of methamphetamine with a street value of $200, and approximately 40 different sized bags containing varying quantities of cocaine on a coffee table in Lopez-Guzman and Guzman-Gomez’s shared bedroom on the second floor of the residence. The total quantity of cocaine is estimated to be between 6.5-7 ounces, with an approximate street value of $20,000.

Investigators also seized drug-related paraphernalia including cutting agents, packaging materials, and a digital scale. They also located a Walter PPK 9mm semi-automatic handgun, on a couch in the living room. A search of the gun through National Crime Information Center (NCIC) database revealed that the handgun had been reported stolen in Los Angeles, California on March 21, 1991. A pellet gun that resembled a Glock firearm was also seized.

CCDOC and HIDTA are investigating.

The preliminary hearings are scheduled for today, July 12, 2023, at 9:00 a.m.
