WILMINGTON, DE — An 18-year-old man is facing multiple firearm charges after Wilmington police said officers recovered a loaded handgun with an obliterated serial number during an investigation.
Members of the Safe Streets Task Force began a firearm investigation involving Muhommad Tucker Jr., 18, on Sept. 10, according to police.
At approximately 11 a.m., officers were in the 2800 block of North Tatnall Street when they observed Tucker allegedly acting suspiciously, police said.
Officers attempted to make contact with Tucker, but police allege he fled on foot. Tucker was located a short time later and taken into custody without further incident, according to police.
Police reported recovering a loaded .40-caliber handgun with an obliterated serial number.
Tucker was charged with two counts of possession of a firearm or ammunition by a person prohibited, possession of a weapon with an obliterated serial number, carrying a concealed deadly weapon, and resisting arrest.
He was arraigned in Justice of the Peace Court 20 and committed to the Howard R. Young Correctional Institution in lieu of $34,000 cash-only bail, according to police.
All suspects, arrestees, and defendants are presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
