WILMINGTON, DE — Wilmington police arrested a city man Tuesday after an investigation into alleged drug activity on Lancaster Avenue led to the seizure of a handgun, marijuana, and MDMA, according to authorities.
Members of the Wilmington Police Department Drug, Organized Crime and Vice Division began investigating Cleveland Baldwin, 36, in April in connection with alleged illegal drug sales in the 1600 block of Lancaster Avenue, police said.
According to investigators, officers located Baldwin around 12:38 p.m. Tuesday and took him into custody without incident.
Police said officers later executed a search warrant in the 1600 block of Lancaster Avenue.
During the search, investigators alleged they recovered a loaded 9mm handgun, ammunition, approximately 169 grams of marijuana, and 53 doses of MDMA.
According to police, Baldwin was charged with possession of a firearm during the commission of a felony, two counts of possession of a firearm or ammunition by a person prohibited, possession of a controlled substance with intent to deliver under Tier 2, possession of a controlled substance with intent to deliver, possession of a controlled substance under Tier 2, and possession of drug paraphernalia.
Authorities said Baldwin was arraigned in New Castle County Court of Common Pleas and committed to the Howard R. Young Correctional Institution pending further proceedings.
All suspects, arrestees, and defendants are presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
