PHILADELPHIA, PA — Philadelphia police are asking for the public’s help identifying a man believed to have information about a double homicide that occurred in North Philadelphia last month.
According to the Philadelphia Police Department’s Homicide Unit, two people were killed at approximately 2:21 a.m. on May 8 in the 2500 block of W. Berks Street.
Investigators released surveillance images and video of a man they are seeking to identify as part of the ongoing investigation.
Police described the individual as a Black man appearing to be in his mid-20s to early 30s, standing approximately 5 feet 9 inches to 5 feet 11 inches tall with a medium build, a light-to-medium brown complexion, facial hair and a receding hairline.
According to investigators, the man was wearing dark clothing, including a Nike hooded sweatshirt and black-and-gray athletic shoes.
Police reported that the man was observed walking approximately three miles on foot from the area of 15th and Butler streets before the shooting. After the incident, investigators said he was last seen heading east on Susquehanna Avenue from 11th Street.
Authorities have not publicly identified the victims or announced any arrests in the case.
The City of Philadelphia is offering a reward of $20,000 for information leading to an arrest and conviction in every homicide case.
Anyone who recognizes the man or has information about the investigation is asked not to approach him and instead call 911 or contact the Homicide Unit at 215-686-3334 or 215-686-3335. Tips can also be submitted confidentially by calling 215-686-TIPS (8477). The investigation is being handled by Det. Farward and Det. Mullen under case number DC 26-22-041747.
All suspects, arrestees, and defendants are presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
