WILMINGTON, DE — A Wilmington man faces multiple firearm-related charges after police said officers recovered a loaded handgun during a traffic stop on the city’s West Side.
According to Wilmington Police, officers conducted a vehicle stop at approximately 7:54 p.m. on June 5 in the 800 block of North Tatnall Street after allegedly observing a vehicle disregard a traffic signal.
Police reported that officers made contact with the driver, identified as 22-year-old Jahkei Fairley. During the investigation, officers allegedly recovered a loaded 9mm handgun from the vehicle.
Fairley was taken into custody without incident, according to police.
Police said Fairley was charged with possession of a firearm by a person prohibited, carrying a concealed deadly weapon, and driving while suspended or revoked, in addition to traffic violations.
According to court records cited by police, Fairley was arraigned in Justice of the Peace Court 20 and committed to the Howard R. Young Correctional Institution on $5,000 cash-only bail.
All suspects, arrestees, and defendants are presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
