WILMINGTON, DE — A 23-year-old Wilmington man is facing four felony firearm charges after New Castle County police said officers recovered a loaded handgun reported stolen in Virginia during an Edgemoor traffic stop.
Officers with Patrol “A” Squad were conducting proactive patrols in the Edgemoor community at approximately 1:12 p.m. Sept. 15 when they observed a Hyundai Elantra commit a traffic violation, according to police.
Police said officers stopped the vehicle on Governor Printz Boulevard and identified the passenger as Marsean Earl, 23, of Wilmington.
During the investigation, officers located a loaded .45-caliber handgun inside the vehicle, police reported.
Investigators subsequently determined that the firearm had allegedly been in Earl’s possession and had been reported stolen in Richmond, Virginia.
Earl was taken into custody and transported to New Castle County police headquarters.
Police charged Earl with felony counts of possession of a firearm during the commission of a felony, possession of a firearm by a person prohibited, carrying a concealed deadly weapon, and receiving a stolen firearm.
Earl was arraigned by Justice of the Peace Court 7 and committed to the Howard R. Young Correctional Institution in lieu of $93,000 cash bail, according to police.
All suspects, arrestees, and defendants are presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
