KENNETT SQUARE, PA — A Kennett Square man has been charged after police alleged he threatened to kill a woman during a phone conversation, prompting the victim to seek a protection order.
According to the Kennett Square Police Department, officers responded at approximately noon on July 13 after receiving a report of terroristic threats in the 600 block of South Broad Street.
Police reported that the victim told officers Joseph Aerie, 36, of Kennett Square, allegedly stated during a phone call earlier that day, “Don’t be surprised if I kill you with your own gun.”
According to police, the victim appeared visibly fearful while describing the incident and expressed concern for her safety. Later that day, she provided officers with a Protection from Abuse order filed against Aerie.
Police reported that Aerie was taken into custody at his residence at approximately 7:45 a.m. July 14 and transported to Central Booking at Chester County Prison.
Aerie was charged with terroristic threats and harassment. The criminal complaint specifically lists the terroristic threats charge as “cause evacuation of building, place of assembly or facility of public transportation.”
All suspects, arrestees, and defendants are presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
