PHILADELPHIA, PA — A Philadelphia man was sentenced Tuesday to 15 months in prison for failing to keep his sex offender registration current and violating the terms of his supervised release, U.S. Attorney David Metcalf said.
Malik Hudson, 30, was sentenced by U.S. District Chief Judge Wendy Beetlestone to 15 months’ imprisonment, followed by five years of supervised release and a $100 special assessment.
The court also imposed a consecutive four-month prison sentence and a concurrent 10-year term of supervised release for violating the conditions of his prior supervision.
Hudson had previously pleaded guilty in November 2018 to sex trafficking of a minor and was sentenced in September 2019 to 72 months in prison and 10 years of supervised release.
According to court records, Hudson was informed of his obligations under the Sex Offender Registration and Notification Act, including the requirement to update his registration within three business days of any change in residence, employment or status.
Hudson was released from federal custody on September 27, 2024, and began his supervised release but failed to report to the U.S. Probation Office.
Authorities said he also failed to update his sex offender registration as required by law.
A violation of supervised release petition was filed on October 8, 2024, after probation officers were unable to locate him.
Hudson was apprehended in June 2025 after being caught stealing items from a Philadelphia store.
The case was investigated by the U.S. Marshals Service.
Assistant U.S. Attorney Eileen Castilla Geiger prosecuted the case.
