Man Accused in Wilmington Shooting Incident Arrested

WILMINGTON, DE — A 20-year-old man is accused of weapons and related offenses following a reported shots fired incident in Wilmington, according to city police.

Wilmington Police reported that officers with the Uniformed Services Division responded around 2:39 p.m. April 9 to the 2300 block of North Jefferson Street for a report of gunfire. Authorities said no injuries were reported.

According to police, officers made contact at the scene with a man who matched the suspect description and had returned to the area during the investigation. Police identified the individual as Christian Broaddus and stated he was taken into custody without incident.

Investigators reported that Broaddus is charged with possession of a deadly weapon during the commission of a felony, possession of a firearm by a person prohibited, two counts of reckless endangering in the first degree, and two counts of criminal mischief under $1,000.

Police stated that Broaddus was arraigned in Justice of the Peace Court 11 and committed to the Howard R. Young Correctional Institution on $82,200 cash-only bail.

All suspects, arrestees, and defendants are presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
