NEWARK, DE — Delaware State Police are investigating a fatal motorcycle crash Tuesday evening at the intersection of Churchmans Road and Center Point Plaza in Newark.

According to the Delaware State Police, the crash occurred around 7:20 p.m. when a Nissan Rogue was turning left from southbound Center Point Plaza onto eastbound Churchmans Road with a green light.

Investigators said a Harley-Davidson Sportster motorcycle was traveling westbound on Churchmans Road toward the intersection at what troopers described as an apparent high rate of speed.

According to the preliminary investigation, the motorcycle allegedly failed to stop for a red light and struck the front of the Nissan as the SUV entered the intersection.
