Gunfire Complaint Leads to Rifle Seizure in Wilmington

WILMINGTON, DE — Wilmington Police arrested a city man last Thursday following a reported shots-fired incident in the 1000 block of Linden Street.

According to investigators, members of the Uniformed Services Division responded at approximately 11:51 p.m. May 21 for a complaint involving gunfire.

While officers were on scene, a victim reported that an unidentified man allegedly fired a gunshot in his direction before entering a residence in the 1000 block of Linden Street, police said.

Officers responded to the residence and made contact with 43-year-old Curtis Nixon, who investigators said matched the suspect description.

Police reported Nixon was taken into custody without incident.

According to investigators, officers later executed a search warrant at the residence and allegedly recovered two loaded 9mm handguns and an MP15 rifle.

Police charged Nixon with possession of a firearm during the commission of a felony and reckless endangering.

According to court proceedings, Nixon was arraigned in Justice of the Peace Court 20 and committed to the Howard R. Young Correctional Institution on $23,000 cash-only bail.

All suspects, arrestees, and defendants are presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
