WILMINGTON, DE — A 73-year-old man faces drunken driving and firearm charges after police alleged he was impaired and carrying a handgun when he was involved in a vehicle collision Friday night.
According to the Wilmington Police Department, officers responded at approximately 9:50 p.m. July 17 to the area of 36th and North Market streets for a report of a crash involving injuries.
When officers arrived, they made contact with the driver of the striking vehicle, identified as Gregory Robinson, 73. Police allege Robinson showed signs of impairment and was taken into custody without incident.
Investigators reported recovering a .380-caliber handgun from Robinson’s waistband.
According to police, the occupants of the other vehicle declined medical treatment at the scene.
Robinson was charged with possession of a firearm while under the influence, driving under the influence of alcohol, and inattentive driving.
Following his arraignment in Justice of the Peace Court 11, Robinson was released on $351 unsecured bail.
All suspects, arrestees, and defendants are presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
