WILMINGTON, DE — A series of search warrants executed at multiple city businesses over several months has led to large drug seizures and an ongoing investigation into alleged illegal sales, according to Wilmington police.
Police said the investigation, led by the Drug, Organized Crime and Vice Division, began following complaints from residents and community leaders about suspected drug sales from local businesses.
According to investigators, the probe included early search warrants executed December 10 at a smoke shop in the 2300 block of Lancaster Avenue and January 16 at a smoke shop in the 900 block of Maryland Avenue.
Authorities reported that on March 3 at about 12:42 p.m., officers executed a second warrant at the Maryland Avenue location, where 584 grams of THC-related products were recovered.
On March 5 at approximately 10:52 a.m., police executed a warrant at a business in the 700 block of South Union Street, where investigators reported recovering 280.25 grams of marijuana and THC products, 238 Xylazine pills, and $2,371 in cash.
Police said that on March 9 at about 12:18 p.m., a search warrant at a business in the 2800 block of North Market Street resulted in the recovery of 2,090 grams of marijuana, 29 grams of methamphetamine, 139 grams of psilocybin, 36 doses of Adderall, ammunition, a ballistic vest, drug packaging materials, and $1,400 in cash.
According to investigators, on March 13 at approximately 9:59 a.m., officers executed a warrant at a business in the 1600 block of West 4th Street, recovering 507.7 grams of marijuana, 10 grams of psilocybin, and packaging materials.
Police reported that on March 16 at about 1:25 p.m., a search warrant at a business in the 1300 block of West 4th Street led to the seizure of 5,794.05 grams of THC products, seven oxycodone pills, a .380-caliber handgun, and $9,054 in cash.
Authorities stated that on April 1 at approximately 9:54 a.m., officers executed a warrant at a business in the 2500 block of West 4th Street, recovering 1,740 grams of marijuana and THC products, 123 Xylazine pills, and $1,160 in cash.
Police said the investigation has involved coordination with the City of Wilmington Department of Land Use and Planning, Licenses and Inspections, and the Delaware Department of Justice.
According to authorities, charges and potential enforcement actions against businesses connected to the investigation are pending, and the case remains active.
Police allege that some businesses were engaged in the illegal sale of marijuana and THC-related products. Authorities said the investigation into suspected illegal drug sales from city businesses is ongoing and encouraged anyone with information to contact police at (302) 654-5151.
