NEW CASTLE, DE — A New Castle man is facing multiple felony charges after police allege he threatened another person with a firearm during an attempted robbery Sunday afternoon.
According to the New Castle County Division of Police, officers responded at approximately 2:15 p.m. July 12 to the 100 block of Pleasantville Court following a report of an attempted robbery that had just occurred.
Investigators reported the victim was inside a residence with several other people when 28-year-old Troy Waller arrived. Police allege an argument broke out over a prior matter, during which Waller pointed a firearm at the victim and threatened to cause harm unless the victim surrendered property.
According to investigators, the victim refused the alleged demands and left the residence.
Police reported responding officers quickly located Waller and took him into custody. During the investigation, officers developed information indicating the firearm allegedly used during the incident had been hidden inside the residence.
Authorities obtained and executed a search warrant at the home, where investigators reported recovering a loaded firearm believed to have been used in the alleged offense.
Waller was charged with one felony count each of attempted first-degree robbery, possession of a firearm during the commission of a felony, possession of a firearm by a person prohibited, possession of ammunition by a person prohibited and aggravated menacing, along with one misdemeanor count of resisting arrest.
According to police, Waller was arraigned before Justice of the Peace Court 11 and committed to the Howard R. Young Correctional Institution after failing to post $96,000 cash bail.
