PHILADELPHIA, PA — Drivers in South Philadelphia will briefly regain access to key I-95 ramps this weekend before another extended closure begins Monday as PennDOT continues a major interstate bridge and ramp improvement project.

- Roads Affected: Front Street ramps to and from I-95
- Dates: Monday, May 11 – Thursday, May 21
- Times: 24/7
- Reason: Ramp widening and bridge repairs
The ramp from Front Street to northbound I-95 and the ramp from southbound I-95 to Front Street are scheduled to reopen temporarily through the weekend before shutting down again Monday morning for additional construction work.
During the closure, Front Street drivers heading to northbound I-95 will be directed to use Oregon Avenue and turn left onto Columbus Boulevard to reach the interstate entrance ramp.
Drivers exiting southbound I-95 to Front Street will be detoured via Broad Street (Route 611). Motorists will exit at Broad Street, turn right onto Broad Street, then turn right onto Packer Avenue to reconnect with Front Street.
PennDOT warned motorists to expect backups and delays near the work zones and along detour routes. Drivers are encouraged to plan extra time and seek alternate routes where possible.
The work is part of a $56.1 million federally funded infrastructure project involving bridge deck repairs, structural steel and concrete rehabilitation, guiderail and expansion joint replacement, overhead sign structure repainting, and upgraded LED roadway lighting across the region.
All scheduled construction activities are weather dependent.
