Two I-476 Ramps Will Close—What Weekend Drivers Face

WEST CONSHOHOCKEN, PA — Drivers approaching northbound Interstate 476 from either direction of Interstate 76 (Schuylkill Expressway) should prepare for two nights of ramp closures and detours beginning Friday, September 18, in Montgomery County.

The ramp from westbound I-76 to northbound I-476 will close Friday and Saturday nights. The ramp from eastbound I-76 to northbound I-476 will close during the same periods.

Drivers will be directed along posted detour routes to reach northbound I-476. PennDOT did not specify which local roads will be included in those detours.

Plan extra time, expect delays near the interchange, and consider alternate routes while the ramps are closed.

I-476 travelers will also encounter weeknight lane closures through October on sections of the interstate between the I-76 and I-95 interchanges in Montgomery and Delaware counties. Those restrictions are scheduled from 8:00 PM to 5:00 AM for bridge repairs, guiderail installation, line striping, and other construction.

The closures are part of a $63.7 million federally funded project to resurface, repair, and improve nearly 17 miles of I-476, including its ramps and bridges. Additional work includes repairs to 49 structures, improvements to 21 stormwater basins, sound wall and drainage repairs, slope stabilization, and installation of new signs, pavement markings, rumble strips, delineators, and guiderails.
