BRYN MAWR, PA — Visiting Angels has expanded its dementia care training efforts by preparing 39 franchise owners and staff members from more than 20 states to pursue Certified Dementia Practitioner credentials, a move the home care provider says is intended to strengthen specialized support for families caring for people with Alzheimer’s disease and other forms of dementia.
The company announced the participants completed the Alzheimer’s Disease and Dementia Care Seminar during its annual conference on June 19. Completion of the full-day course makes attendees eligible to apply for Certified Dementia Practitioner certification through the National Council of Certified Dementia Practitioners, which requires ongoing professional development and recertification every two years.
The participants represented Visiting Angels locations across more than 20 states, including Pennsylvania, Maryland, California, Texas, Minnesota and Florida. The seminar was led by Tim Lindsey, executive director of operations for Visiting Angels, who holds Certified Dementia Practitioner and Certified Alzheimer’s Disease and Dementia Care Trainer credentials.
According to the Alzheimer’s Association, an estimated 7 million Americans age 65 and older are living with Alzheimer’s disease in 2026, with most receiving care at home from family members and professional caregivers. Visiting Angels cited that demand as a driver behind expanding dementia-specific training throughout its franchise network.
“We don’t just provide care, we provide specialized dementia support led by a Certified Dementia Practitioner, helping individuals live more confidently, comfortably, and with dignity while supporting the families who love them,” Lindsey stated.
Visiting Angels President Scott Parrish characterized the training as a way to equip franchise owners with additional expertise they can bring back to their local communities.

It reflects the standard of care we want every family to experience when they call Visiting Angels.”
