PHILADELPHIA, PA — Veterinary Dentistry Specialists has opened a Philadelphia practice focused exclusively on veterinary dentistry and oral surgery, expanding specialty pet healthcare capacity in a field with a limited number of board-certified providers nationwide.
The new location at 1710 Fairmount Avenue marks the sixth practice in the Veterinary Dentistry Specialists network and adds advanced oral care services for pets in the Philadelphia market.
The company stated the practice combines board-certified specialists in veterinary dentistry and anesthesiology, a staffing model it says is designed to improve treatment outcomes and manage risks associated with complex oral procedures.
The expansion comes as demand for specialty veterinary services continues to grow alongside rising pet ownership and increased spending on advanced animal healthcare.
Veterinary Dentistry Specialists noted that oral disease affects most pets over age three, while the U.S. has roughly 240 active board-certified veterinary dentists and about 220 board-certified veterinary anesthesiologists.
The network was founded by Carlos Rice, DVM, DAVDC, and focuses exclusively on dental and oral surgery procedures for companion animals. Viacheslav Eroshin, DVM, DEVDC, DAVDC, will help oversee clinical operations at the Philadelphia practice.
“Our mission is to provide a level of care and service that elevates the quality of life for our patients,” Rice stated. “By focusing exclusively on dentistry and oral surgery, we can diagnose and treat oral diseases that would otherwise often go untreated.”
Services at the facility include extractions, oral cancer surgery, jaw fracture repair, orthodontics, palate surgery, endodontics, periodontics, restoratives, and salivary gland procedures.
The company stated the Philadelphia office will operate by appointment on Monday, Wednesday, and Friday from 8:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m. While referrals from primary care veterinarians are encouraged, pet owners may also schedule directly.
