WILMINGTON, DE — Vasco Electronics’ Vasco Audience platform was named “Parent Communication Solution of the Year” by EdTech Breakthrough, recognition that comes as school districts face growing pressure to communicate with increasingly multilingual student populations and their families.
The award was announced as part of the EdTech Breakthrough Awards, an annual program that evaluates education technology products and services. According to the organization, this year’s competition drew a record number of submissions from more than 20 countries.
The recognition highlights a growing market for technology designed to address language barriers in K-12 education, where schools are increasingly seeking alternatives to traditional interpretation services for parent engagement, enrollment, school board meetings and other public-facing communications.
Vasco Audience provides real-time translation and transcription in more than 50 languages through a browser-based platform that allows participants to access translated content on their own devices during live events.
The system allows users to join through a QR code or session ID rather than downloading dedicated software. The company also noted that the platform offers post-event transcripts and supports customized glossaries for education-specific terminology.
EdTech Breakthrough Managing Director Steve Johansson pointed to language accessibility as a persistent challenge for school systems.
“Over 20% of U.S. students speak a language other than English,” Johansson said. “This language barrier is one of the biggest hurdles to academic equity and parent engagement.”
The award follows Vasco’s recent partnership with Second Mile Education, which is focused on improving communication between schools and multilingual families.
As part of that initiative, Vasco donated translation devices to schools in Florida and plans to expand those donations to additional schools across the United States.
The company cited growing demand for multilingual communication tools as districts seek scalable ways to improve family engagement and accessibility while managing the costs associated with language services.
