PHILADELPHIA, PA — Executive search and talent firm True has introduced a new assessment framework designed to evaluate how senior leaders are likely to perform in organizations undergoing artificial intelligence-driven transformation, reflecting growing demand from companies seeking executives with both operational experience and technological fluency.
The Philadelphia-based company said its new AI Capability Index is intended to help clients identify leaders capable of managing large organizations while adapting to rapid advances in AI and automation.
The launch comes as corporations across industries invest heavily in artificial intelligence initiatives, creating pressure on boards and management teams to recruit executives who can integrate emerging technologies into existing business models without disrupting operations.
According to True, the framework evaluates candidates using two primary measures: leadership execution experience and AI-related capability. The assessment also examines factors the company describes as adaptive intelligence, including decision-making in uncertain environments and the ability to design organizations that combine human and AI-driven work.
“The cost of finding names is decreasing,” Chief Executive Officer and co-founder Brad Stadler said. “True’s advantage lies in our ability to assess talent using these advanced frameworks.”
The company argues that many organizations face a choice between experienced executives who may struggle to adapt to technological change and less experienced candidates who possess stronger AI expertise but limited large-scale management experience.
Evan Grossman, managing director and co-head of the firm’s CEO and board practices, said the framework is designed to provide clients with a structured way to evaluate those trade-offs.
“We help clients understand the trade-offs between expert operators and AI-focused innovators,” Grossman said. “This clarity narrows the candidate pool and leads to more realistic hiring decisions.”
The announcement highlights how artificial intelligence is reshaping not only business operations but also executive recruitment, as search firms and corporate boards seek new methods for evaluating leadership readiness in an increasingly technology-driven economy.
