SEPTA Rail Improvements to Cause Weekend Traffic Delays in Lansdale

Traffic Advisory

LANSDALE, PA — Montgomery County is bracing for a weekend of traffic disruptions as the Southeastern Pennsylvania Transportation Authority (SEPTA) undertakes essential rail improvements along Main Street. Starting Friday, May 17, and stretching through to Monday, May 20, motorists navigating through this suburban hub will need to adjust their routes and schedules accordingly.

The focal point of these improvements, Route 63 (Main Street), will be closed to through traffic between Green Street and Railroad Avenue. This closure, effective from 9:00 AM on Friday until 6:00 PM on Monday, aims to ensure the safety of workers and the public alike as SEPTA executes its rail enhancement activities.

During this period, a detour will reroute drivers onto a combination of Main Street, Broad Street, Route 463 (Cowpath Road), and Orvilla Road. These alternative paths are designed to minimize disruption and maintain flow, yet motorists are forewarned to expect significant backups and delays in proximity to the work zone.

Local access up to the points of active construction will be preserved, ensuring residents and businesses situated near the improvement site remain reachable despite the broader closures.

The undertaking is weather-dependent, with any shifts in conditions potentially influencing the schedule. Drivers, local residents, and businesses are encouraged to plan extra time for travel and to stay informed on the progress of the work and any impact it may have on their daily routines.
