WEST EARL TWP, PA — Route 222 drivers should prepare for several days of lane restrictions beginning Friday night, September 11, as bridge repairs first affect northbound traffic before shifting to the southbound lanes near the Route 772 (Brownstown/Rothsville) interchange.

The left lane of northbound Route 222 will remain closed continuously from 7:00 PM Friday until 6:00 AM Monday while crews work on the bridge over North Church Street.
After completing the northbound repairs, crews will move Monday to the far-right lane of southbound Route 222 and restrict the deceleration lane serving the Route 772 exit.
The southbound off-ramp to Route 772 will remain open. Drivers should slow down and use caution when entering the restricted deceleration lane.
PennDOT expects the southbound restriction to be removed sometime Wednesday evening. Motorists should plan extra time because backups and delays are expected until the repairs are complete.
The work is part of an $8.49 million pavement preservation project covering 3.3 miles of Route 222 in Manheim, Warwick, and West Earl townships. The larger project includes resurfacing, milling, base repairs, concrete patching, guiderail improvements, line painting, and sign updates between the Bushong Road and Pool Road overpasses.
New Enterprise Stone and Lime Company Inc., of New Enterprise, is the contractor.
