Piano Expands in Japan With NHK Analytics Deal

Piano

PHILADELPHIA, PA — Piano has added Japan Broadcasting Corporation, or NHK, as a customer for its analytics platform, expanding the Philadelphia-based software company’s presence in Japan as the country’s national public broadcaster strengthens its digital audience measurement capabilities.

NHK selected Piano Analytics to support behavioral data analysis across its digital operations, with data privacy, security and the platform’s experience with public broadcasters among the factors behind the decision.

The agreement represents a strategic customer win for Piano in the Japanese media market. NHK is Japan’s sole national public broadcaster.

“This relationship is an important step in our expansion in the Japanese market,” Piano Japan General Manager Ryo Shioya said.

Piano Analytics allows organizations to collect and analyze behavioral data through dashboards, industry-specific data models and natural-language queries. Its AI-based querying function is designed to allow employees without SQL expertise to request information using ordinary language rather than relying on analysts to generate reports.

The platform also provides configurable data models, which Piano identified as a factor in meeting NHK’s requirements for both analytical accuracy and privacy protection.
